Case Study: Historic NGO Mission Coverage

FOUR PAWS β€” Argentina Big Cat Mission: Inside a Historic Veterinary Assessment of Over 60 Felines.

Long-form documentary, vlog series & fundraising content | Field storytelling | Argentina

Context
FOUR PAWS undertook a historic veterinary assessment mission in Argentina, spanning nearly two months and involving complex logistics, sensitive animal welfare work, and international collaboration. The brief was to document the mission comprehensively and communicate its significance to a global audience β€” while also supporting fundraising efforts to help finance such an extensive deployment.

Challenge
The mission unfolded in real time, across locations and disciplines, with no fixed narrative arc. At the same time, the organisation was experimenting with new, more personal content formats, including its first major use of vlogs to build transparency and connection with supporters.

The challenge was to create sustained engagement over time β€” across editorial, documentary, and fundraising needs β€” without disrupting a fast-paced, high-pressure field operation.

Creative Idea
Rather than treating the mission as a single documentary outcome, I approached it as a multi-layered narrative ecosystem. The idea was to combine:

  • Multiple vlog episodes to bring audiences inside the mission as it unfolded

  • A hero documentary film to reflect on the scale, complexity, and impact of the work

  • Targeted fundraising content that translated technical veterinary progress into emotionally resonant stories supporters could act on

By stepping in front of the camera, I became a consistent narrative guide β€” helping audiences understand both the human and technical dimensions of the mission, and building trust over time.

Execution
Over nearly two months on the ground, I documented the mission across all phases β€” capturing daily developments, key veterinary milestones, and behind-the-scenes moments. I developed and presented multiple vlog episodes in parallel with filming a cinematic wrap-up documentary.

Despite the fast-moving and unpredictable environment, I deliberately incorporated anamorphic cinematography to elevate the visual language beyond standard factual coverage, demonstrating craft ambition while maintaining speed and flexibility. Alongside editorial storytelling, I produced fundraising-focused content designed to clearly communicate impact and urgency.

Outcome
The project resulted in FOUR PAWS’ first major vlog-led storytelling initiative, supported by a hero documentary film and a series of fundraising assets. Together, these formats helped humanise complex veterinary work, strengthen audience connection, and successfully support fundraising efforts that helped finance the mission’s deployment.

The approach demonstrated how sustained, narrative-driven field storytelling can serve both brand trust and tangible organisational outcomes.
