Live Anamorphic Session Film — Music Cinematography

Live Band Session — Anamorphic Music Film

Cinematography, Lighting, Direction & Editing | Multi-take creative shoot

Context
Captured a live band performance in a controlled session setting, designed to showcase both the musicality of the artists and the expressive potential of anamorphic cinematography.

Although the concept visually evokes a multi-camera live session, the film was shot as a series of consecutive takes, each crafted to deliver dynamic perspectives and immersive visual rhythm.

Creative Idea
Rather than simply documenting a performance, the approach was to elevate the session into a cinematic music film, using anamorphic lenses and intentional lighting to create depth, cinematic space, and emotional tone that mirror the band’s sound.

This project was as much about crafting visual expression as it was about recording performance, blurring the line between music video and live session.

Execution
I planned, lit, and filmed the session with full responsibility for:

  • Lighting design tailored to anamorphic optics

  • Shooting strategy that maximises visual engagement while preserving the performance’s integrity

  • Multiple takes designed as visual beats rather than separate angles

I then edited the footage to rhythmically match the energy and emotional contour of the performance, using anamorphic framing, motion, and depth to draw the viewer into the space of the music.

Outcome
The resulting video stands as a pure cinematographic expression that conveys both:

  • technical mastery of anamorphic lenses

  • visual rhythm aligned with musical performance

This piece demonstrates a visual voice, and sits comfortably between creative filmmaking and aesthetic music video production.

My Role
Cinematography, lighting design, direction, and editing.
