AI-enhanced anamorphic short film — NEW ERA

Original concept | Cinematography | Editing | AI-assisted workflows

Context
New Era is a no-budget proof of concept short film developed to explore how emerging AI tools can be integrated into traditional filmmaking workflows.

Creative Idea
The story centres on a deeply religious man who eagerly awaits the announcement of a new pope, only to witness a revelation that challenges his faith entirely: the arrival of an alien invasion on Earth.

At its core, the film explores themes of belief, authority, and existential shock — using genre as a lens rather than spectacle as an end in itself.

Execution
I wrote, shot, and edited the film, deliberately combining anamorphic cinematography with AI-generated and AI-modified elements to extend what could be achieved without traditional VFX resources.

AI tools were used selectively to:

  • generate and modify voices

  • create original music

  • produce visual moments that would otherwise require significant CGI budgets

The focus was on understanding where AI can meaningfully support storytelling, rather than replacing creative intent.

Outcome / Learning
The result is a rough but revealing proof of concept that demonstrates both creative ambition and technical literacy. The project allowed me to experiment with emerging workflows, evaluate their narrative value, and integrate them into a cinematic process grounded in traditional craft.

My Role
Concept, writing, cinematography, editing, and AI-assisted creative development.
