Case Study: NGO Street Action Film

FOUR PAWS — It’s In Your Hands

Campaign film | COP27 activation | Berlin 2022

Context
Ahead of COP27, FOUR PAWS commissioned world-acclaimed street artist Gregor Wosik to create a large-scale 3D artwork in downtown Berlin, highlighting the impact of factory farming on climate change. The original assignment was to document the live street action.

Insight
Rather than treating the activation as a one-off event, I recognised an opportunity to turn the artwork itself into a metaphor: in their early drafts, artists create and destroy realities — just as humans are actively shaping (and destroying) the reality of our planet.

This reframing allowed the story to move beyond documentation and into meaning.

Big Idea
Instead of filming only the street action, I developed a narrative film around the process of creation. By following the artist from his studio to the final installation in the public space, the film explores the tension between creation and destruction, and positions art as a tool to provoke reflection and change.

Execution
Working solo as filmmaker and cinematographer, I visited the artist in his studio, documented the development of the painting from blank canvas to finished illusion, and then followed its installation in the city. This approach required fast decision-making, leading to strong creative and cinematic storytelling — all without increasing production costs.

Outcome
The result was a film that transformed a potentially routine documentation task into a highly-shareable narrative piece that inspired audiences and elevated the campaign’s emotional impact. By adding story and metaphor, the video extended the life and resonance of the street action beyond the moment itself.

My Role
Creative direction and concept development, cinematography, and editing.
